Biographical Note
NALWO (National Accelerator Laboratory Women’s Organization) was organized by and for women whose spouses worked at the lab as well as female lab employees. Jane Wilson, wife of Fermilab's first Director Robert Wilson, was honorary chair of NALWO from 1969-1978.
In addition to morning coffees and potluck gatherings throughout the year, NALWO hosted speakers and seasonal events, holiday parties and a Fall and Spring Tea. They created the NALWO Guest Directory which listed services, restaurants, and neighborhoods in the suburbs and cities surrounding Fermilab. They also organized and managed a Playgroup for children which evolved into Fermilab's Children's (Day Care) Center.
Scope and Content
The records mainly consist of files of NALWO. The files contain minutes from the NALWO Executive Board, NALWO News, and the first NALWO Guest Directory. The files also contain correspondence between NALWO members, NALWO event publicity, and Playgroup Board minutes.

The collection may be used by qualified readers in the Reading Room of the Fermilab History and Archives Project in Wilson Hall or the Archives House in the Fermilab Village.
