Rudy Dorner
Rudolph “Rudy” Francis Dorner graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree of forestry. Dorner began working for the Illinois Department of Conservation at Springfield in 1963. In May 1969, he became chief of planning and development for the state park system. He became the National Accelerator Laboratory’s Site Manager in October 1969. He remained at the lab for many years, also serving as Fermilab’s emergency coordinator and playing a key role in caring for and maintaining the lab’s bison herd. He passed away in 2022.
