Lia Merminga - Biography
Lia Merminga received her undergraduate degree from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1983 and her PhD from the University of Michigan in 1989. She completed her thesis using data from Fermilab's Tevatron particle accelerator. She held a postdoc position at SLAC from 1989 to 1992 before joining Jefferson Lab in 1992. In 2008, she joined Canada's TRIUMF laboratory, where she was head of their accelerator program. In 2016, she returned to SLAC and she remained there until 2018, when she joined Fermilab as director of the lab's Proton Improvement Plan II (PIP-II) project. She was named Fermilab's director in 2022.
