Asa Newman
Asa Newman grew up in Ohio. In April 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army and served with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. He joined the staff of the University of Chicago in 1958 and received his B.S. from Chicago’s Roosevelt University in 1959. He then worked worked as a Chief Cyclotron Operator at the University of Chicago until 1971, when he came to the National Accelerator Laboratory. He worked at Fermilab as an operations specialist on the crew of the 15-foot Bubble Chamber until he retired in 1980. He passed away in 2021, at the age of 102.
