Romesh Sood retires after nearly 5 decades at Fermilab
After more than 48 years of exceptional leadership at Fermilab, Romesh Sood is set to retire on May 27. Sood’s dedicated service spanned neutrino beamline crew chief to APS-TD associate division head, with many impactful roles in between.
Along the way, one of his more important assignments was to correct serious deficiencies identified in Fermilab’s emergency planning and emergency response programs, serving for several years as the leader of the ES&H Section’s Emergency Management Department.
Sood’s contributions to APS-TD over many years are also multifold. One of the most recent examples: spearheading the ICB-A building construction and following it through to completion.
Sood always made great efforts to accomplish the laboratory’s goals in an efficient, cost-effective manner while treating everyone with respect. His progressive, forward-thinking mindset, ability to empower his team and way of “making things happen” as one colleague put it, will leave a lasting imprint on Fermilab.
